Music Video: Filming Blog
We faced a lot of difficulties in filming that Monday. In addition to the park being closed, we had to use a smaller more cramped playground that only had the minimal dual swings and slide, compared to where we originally were supposed to be which had a large vast field, playground, and basketball court. We also had to work around traffic in the new setting, our mutual friends neighborhood, in which we had to take a 30 minute walk to reach. Filming overall took about 20-30 minutes including a few scenes we had to retake. Likewise, maybe the actor wasn't showing enough emotion, or maybe his movement had to be more exaggerated to show the context of the scene. Regardless, this was a video where the music does all the "talking" meaning we had to emphasize the idea of the song without talking on our own. We also had to socially distance to avoid possibly spreading COVID-19 meaning physical confrontation had to be at a minimum even though we had a few scenes where the antagonist and the protagonist colluded. Another problem came with the limited space that was available. For example, it was hard to create a long shot scene because it would mean the camera-man would either have to stand in the road with oncoming traffic, or with their back pressed up against a dusty gate to capture the whole scene. Pedestrians also became an annoyance as we had to deal with dogs, people walking onto the scene, cars pulling into the parking lot, and loud radios. All in all, despite these problems, some more frustrating than others, we still manage to produce a entertaining and lively film.
