How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues? This was my final time filming and I had to incorporate many different concepts and realized how effortless it was to create a now 2 minute film with somewhat of a plot and story. It represents issues of working smarter not harder and to avoid unnecessary obstacles as well. Working smarter, not harder is shown by establishing a three tasks. The project, game, and extra shift which is iconic to the film's plot by immediately allowing the audience to know what the film is about without even saying a word. Moreover,  you have to work around obstacles that can be in your way whether that is film calling something off, asking for an extension, or turning people down. My product is a storytelling dramatic video that represents time management through the lenses of one person. This person is a regular school boy who is a smart, athletic, and hardworking character named Cleveland. Usuall

Re fliming Part 3...

Image
I can admit, refilling these last scenes have been difficult because of things not particularly going our way. We were supposed to go to the park yesterday but it began raining. At first, I wanted to wait it out, as Florida weather changes so frequently very quickly, to see if the rain would clear up, but it began raining for the wrest of the day into the night. So we rearranged filming to the Tuesday. Hopefully this is our last day of rescheduling because I want to dedicate our final hours left dedicated to purely finishing the editing and uploading our work. So far, my mom and my sister has previewed the film so far and I have gotten good feedback but they also said that they couldn't tell what the message was or more specifically, the message was too broad so I have began brainstorming. I was planning on changing how the film ends. Instead of Cleveland saying he's done, it would be a sequence of flashbacks with thrilling or dramatic music to emphasize what the character is g

Production blog: Refilming Part 2

My partner and I were meant to re-film today however we had to change to Sunday because of our different schedules. Today we were mean to film the park scenes over again because of the lighting and sound in the scene mainly due to the cloudiness, and passing by cars and people. Additionally, we had to tell our third actor to come on Sunday as well. One thing that may not be looking good for us is that if we can't re-film then we would have to use the one that isn't so good which would look bad for the film. The job location also has to filmed as well but we still haven't disclosed a firm location so we will have to talk about that as well. For the job scene, it may be difficult because it would mean we would have to be in the back of the kitchen or register to captivate the theme of the scene which would be hard work. We might have to reevaluate or take out the scene in general and replace it with something else or leave in scenes from the other scenes. Its either that or w

One more shot...

During the editing process I realized that the scene where Cleveland and our second actor would be outdoors was too cloudy and windy making the shot seem gray. I've tried using different filters to warm the view of the shot but it wasn't too effective. One more problem was the wind and the cars passing by made it difficult to hear the speech of the characters. The only solution would be to reshoot the entire scene one more time. We planned to do this on the coming Thursday as long as the weather is good, but the only problem remains is the additional actor who may not be able to make it considering it isn't a weekend. I figured I would take his place knowing that we only have a few options but hopefully we can find an extra. One more problem is my computer which I use to edit on the monitor has been damaged and I've already made plans to mail it to bring it into service for repairs. This may be a problem because we may have to redo the whole editing process on a differe

Production: Putting it all together

Image
We started editing as we already had gathered all the clips and music we need. One problem was to pick a copyright free song that would represent all of the different scenes and moods. Another was the cropping of the scenes. Each scene, or take had detrimental parts that made it unique to the overall message but some pieces had to get cut short in order to fit the 2 minute time limit, and I had to crop out some of the beginning of each scenes. One thing that stood out in the editing process is that time it took to edit. In one day's worth of editing as there were more takes and shots to reconsider this time. Picking out the select few that would be in the film was a hassle. Some takes also had "good parts" other takes didn't so it had to cut out the bad parts and merge their good parts together. There were multiple different songs used and I had to cut those down as well. With all these components, it became harder to edit as my computer began slowing down which meant

Production: Filming

During Spring Break, we went back to filming. We re-filmed scenes three, six, eight, and ten. For scene three my partner thought the audio was too mumbled so when we ran the tape he emphasized that he couldn't hear the voices of the actors too well. As a result, we re-filmed and tried to get the microphone closer to pick up the character voices much clearer than what we had beforehand, however it was a little windy which created a "whooshing" sound so it was a little unfortunate. Moreover, for scene six, I believed we had to refill because the acting didn't seem natural and forced and would throw off the mood of the project. This caused us to re-film it until we thought it was satisfactory although it wasn't completely excellent. Scene eight was when my partner had to slam the door shut. This scene was a bit difficult to film because it wasn't an ideal door. The lock on the door was jammed so it wouldn't stay completely shut also it wouldn't create the
