Music Video: Reflection

Image
How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues? My product is a storytelling music video that represents bullying through the lenses of three people. The bully, the bystander, and the protagonist. This represents social groups because everyone can relate to being ridiculed or bullied by someone even if it was a one time thing. By showing how one person can help another and put a stop to bullying is an important topic that should be spread. Not only would this reduce bullying, but it would inspire those to help others who have been bullied. Most importantly, it would teach those who have been bullied to look past the past and build from their trauma.  How does your project engage with audiences and how can it be distributed as a real media text? My product is not dramatic film, rather it is a story that is developed to connect the author to the main character who faces a conflict. Here we see see through the lenses of all three ...

Music Video: Final Product

Image
This is my final film product, a music video that tackles the concept of helping others. By being someone who takes actions and helps someone else out, you can change their day, their mood, or the way they perceive the world. Hopefully, this short, but also meaningful, project can inspire those who look and ignore, to stand up and take endeavors. All in all, it's all about recognizing your "losses", or defeats, and using that as motivation to keep ones head up. https://youtu.be/YvFK7r6hQyY

Music Video: Editing

Image
My partner and I began editing on Saturday, December 5th using iMovie. We spent majority of this time to transfer clips and scenes to one another, and figuring out what would be useful in the final film. We had a general idea of what we wanted in the project according to the storyboard. On the following Sunday, we took the almost 2 minute video and began shortening it again as well as adding transitions where we see fit. These include:  *fade to black *cross blur *cross zoom Finally, on Monday, December 7th we completed our editing process. My partner sent the original music video to me so I could "clean it up" and make it run smoother. I also added the song because there obviously could not be a music video without any music. I also tried to make the music video seem more dramatic buy having the clips change when the song had a beat drop. Although the whole editing process lasted over a three day period, editing itself only lasted about an hour and a half and was considerabl...

Music Video: Filming Blog

Image
We faced a lot of difficulties in filming that Monday. In addition to the park being closed, we had to use a smaller more cramped playground that only had the minimal dual swings and slide, compared to where we originally were supposed to be which had a large vast field, playground, and basketball court. We also had to work around traffic in the new setting, our mutual friends neighborhood, in which we had to take a 30 minute walk to reach. Filming overall took about 20-30 minutes including a few scenes we had to retake. Likewise, maybe the actor wasn't showing enough emotion, or maybe his movement had to be more exaggerated to show the context of the scene. Regardless, this was a video where the music does all the "talking" meaning we had to emphasize the idea of the song without talking on our own. We also had to socially distance to avoid possibly spreading COVID-19 meaning physical confrontation had to be at a minimum even though we had a few scenes where the antagoni...
