Music Video: Filming Blog
On Monday, November 23rd, I began and finished my filming project and there were a few problems that occurred along the way. To begin, the original setting of the film was supposed to be at a city park, however, because of the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, the park was closed. My partner and I had to find a new, better, and as effective, place to film. We decided to film in one of our mutual friend's neighborhood and although it was smaller and less vibrant, it seemed to do the job quite well and we had to innovate. Since the park in the neighborhood was a little smaller, we decided to use the neighborhood itself to serve as another setting for the shots. This was my second time filming and it went considerably smoother and faster compared to my first. I knew what angles I wanted, what movement would best suit the scene, and a good way to show the message of the song. I incorporated close shots, long-shots, reverse shots, tracking, and panorama shots in different takes of the film. Needless to say, although this film was 2 times longer (60 seconds), it took about the same amount of time to film as my previous project which was about 30 seconds. Additionally, this time when filming, I adjusted the cameras settings to allow for 4k 60fps which would allow for a smoother, less choppy, video. I felt more confident with filming simply because I became more experienced and I knew exactly what I wanted and how to improve. I didn't create a Hollywood styled music video, but I do feel accomplished in the project I did create knowing that I did it to the best of my ability, an ability that will mature with time and practice.
