Filming Blog

My Expirience On Wednesday, October 28th, I began my filming process and it wasn't as easy as I first anticipated. First, I had to first get the props and set them in their right place so that when I needed to use them there wouldn't be any hassle. After that, I began to film and soon realized filming wasn't really my best friend. The angles, the movement, and the lighting we're all different factors in each take and for this being my first time, I wasn't ready. In addition to that, there were a few mess ups that occurred and I had to end up reshooting the whole scene. I learned even a 30 second commercial can be complex if you really want to make it perfect. I used movement like tracking, close-shot, and long shot and angles such as high and low. Also, the background felt bland, I feel like I should've added more props to really capture the viewers attention. The filming process took about 15 minutes although it felt a while longer with all the retakes there we...

Storyboard Blog

First Scene During the first scene, the actor will be seen walking into the house while locking the door behind him with a sad type of expression. This will be used to imply he had an extremely busy or tiring day. This will be a long shot.  Second Scene During the second scene, the actor will be walking toward the living room. Sounds such as his shoes hitting the floor and the actor setting down his keys will be present. This will be using tracking movement as if the audience is following closely behind from the third person. Third Scene During the third scene, the actor will be sitting down on the couch in the living room. This will be using a mid shot, in the same. The actor will then pick up the product, the xbox one controller, and turn it on. Here the audience will hear a chime, indicating that the console itself has turned on. This will be shot using a mid shot. Fourth Scene During the fourth scene, the actor will show gameplay of a game called Fortnite for about 5 seconds an...

Research Commercial Conventions

My Project will be based around one of the most popular gaming consoles around, the Xbox. In these types of commercials, the audience is presented with a presentation of the console, the specs, and the games that come along with it to get the audience to buy the gaming system.  Usually, there aren’t many actors and the system itself is just portrayed however, when there are, the audience tends to see one or many people playing/enjoying the game which is what I plan to show.  Costumes are usually casual in-home wear whether that be sweatpants and a sweater to a pair of loose fitted shorts and a t-shirt. Props include the system itself, the controller, and the viewing screen whether it be a monitor or a tv.   The appearance of the actors are usually showing excitement to show how fun the product is and to persuade people into buying it. Sweaty hands and arm movement can be added as well.  The music involved is usually dramatic and inspiring, this is usually to bring go...

Planning for my Xbox commercial

Image
Props   My film will be based around Microsoft, more specific their gaming console, the Xbox One S. Props will include the Xbox controller, a tv, and a gaming headset.  Costumes The clothing for this film will be casual and simple as you typically find people who use this product to be at home in a relaxed environment. Actors might also want to be in an environment where gaming is ideal like the living room or their bed room rather than the kitchen or bathroom. Schedule   10/23/2020- research background information on the product, plan the start of production, establishing a setting,  proper time to film, clothing, and schedule. 10/26/2020- begin the storyboard of the 30 second project  10/28/2020- begin the filming of the commercial with different angles, shots, and lighting 10/30/2020- the editing of the commercial including cuts, music, special effects, and transitions  Location The living room when there is the least amount of commotion in my home. This...
